Toss India Choose to bowl against Sri Lanka

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl in the second T20I against Sri Lanka at Pallekale, the toss was delayed by 45 minutes due to incessant rain. As a result, the start was delayed to 7.45 pm local time.

Suryakumar said the wet weather influenced his decision to chase. According to Suryakumar, India forced a change with the arrival of vice-captain Shubman Gill Sanju Samson, who was up with neck pain.

After losing the first T20I on Saturday, Sri Lanka captain Sarith Asalanga was not too worried about batting first. Offspin-bowling all-rounder Ramesh Mendis has made one change, replacing left-arm pacer Dilshan Madhushanka. Ramesh, 29, was initially not part of the Sri Lankan squad and was later included as a standby player after they were hampered by illness and injury.
Mendis’ recent form has been particularly encouraging: in his latest T20 game for the Kandy Falcons in the LPL, he scored an unbeaten 30 off 11 balls and took 2 for 10. Samindu Wickramasinghe, the seam-bowling all-rounder, will have to wait a little longer for his international debut.
