Saudi Arabia and Austria signed a memorandum of understanding for economic cooperation

RIYADH: The Saudi healthcare system has partnered with two of the country’s largest companies to advance the use of digital technologies to improve the Kingdom’s capabilities.

The agreement, signed on May 27, will provide solutions for pharmacovigilance and IT infrastructure and increase local content through manufacturing and maintenance of medical devices.

This partnership demonstrates SAMI-AEC’s relentless efforts to build a compatible and applicable healthcare system in Saudi Arabia based on digital technologies.

Commenting on the agreement, Ziad Al-Musallam, CEO of SAMI-AEC, said the agreement underscores the firm commitment of the two organizations in promoting efforts to improve the healthcare environment in Saudi Arabia.

„At SAMI-AEC, we strongly believe in the importance of augmenting public health services through digital solutions and providing e-health services. This includes the integration of effective, agile technologies to improve the health sector, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030,” he said.

Fahad Al-Shebel, CEO of NUPCO, highlighted the importance of the agreement and its role in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and facilitating access to integrated technology provided by SAMI-Advanced Electronics Co.

NUPCO is the country’s largest central corporation providing medical procurement, storage and distribution services for medicines, devices and supplies, aiming to improve the health sector by improving its facilities in all public hospitals and medical centers in the kingdom.

With a workforce of over 3,320 individuals, 85 percent of whom are Saudi nationals, SAMI-AEC has positioned itself as a leader in electronics, technology, engineering and manufacturing. Its services cover sectors such as defense and aerospace, digital, energy and security.

The company’s more than 800 employees are engineers and certified professionals, reaffirming SAMI-AEC’s commitment to excellence and innovation, established in 1988.

On the other hand, NUPCO was established in 2009 with a capital of SR1.5 billion. It is a leading provider of procurement, logistics and supply chain management for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and government hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
