as good as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is – it is upon us Best foldable phones List for a reason – it’s definitely bulky. But a new leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be much lighter, fixing one of our biggest complaints.
Tipster No name (AKA Chu) claims that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be lighter than its predecessors. Foldables are traditionally much heavier than their standard counterparts and the Z Fold 4 weighs a whopping 9.28 ounces or 263 grams. Granted, it has a large 7.6-inch display, but that’s a lot to handle.
Rumors are already swirling that the unnamed new material will reduce the device’s weight, but No Name claims that the Z Fold 5 is „expected to be 10g lighter than the Fold 4 (9-12g from what I’ve heard).”
It’s a step in the right direction and comes out at 253 grams or 8.9 ounces. 8.47 oz iPhone 14 Pro Max and 8.25-oz Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Both will weigh less, but this will be a big improvement.

Galaxy Z Fold 5: A big step forward?
In addition to shedding some weight, No Name expects the Z Fold 5 to feature a larger but shallower and less prominent “waterdrop” style hinge.
This lines up with earlier rumors and is believed to result in a durable folding mechanism. The Z Fold 4, for example, only managed an IPX8 water-resistant (not waterproof) rating and it doesn’t offer dust protection.
Neither name believes that Samsung is „considering” adding dust-proof certification due to the gapless nature of the water drop hinge style. With the higher price of the Z Fold range, we hope Samsung implements this.
One key area where the Z Fold 5 can improve over its predecessor is the cameras; On the Z Fold 4, the under-display camera is just 4 MP. As for the rear camera, Samsung has said that it wants to improve this in future foldable devices and some rumors suggest that we could see the introduction of a 108MP camera.
Foldable phones are still an amazing piece of technology, but they’re no longer new. We should expect exactly this from its creator Best phones.
