Regulatory roundup: 5G appeal, emergency response spectrum, digital divide and more

5G rules

Costa Rica’s Supreme Court rejected a legal action filed by state agency ICE’s union that sought to challenge regulations banning the use of Chinese-made 5G equipment by soldiers.

The ruling determined that the regulation „does not establish rules that companies cannot comply with or discriminate against any particular company.” It also said the move did not violate the constitution or international treaties.

In a press release, President Rodrigo Chávez and ICT Minister Paula Bogantes expressed their concern over the delay in the ruling, especially since the restriction was suspended after the union appealed, even though the Supreme Court confirmed its legality.
