Peter Andre reveals he hasn’t had a birthday party in 10 years because he was in a 'very dark place’ after his brother’s tragic death

Peter Andre has revealed that he hasn’t had a birthday party in 10 years since the death of his beloved brother Andrew.

Andrew passed away in 2012 aged 54 after a brave battle with kidney cancer, leaving his younger brother Pete and family devastated.

In a candid interview, the singer, 50, talked about how he spiraled into a dark depression and couldn’t bring himself to think about celebrating his birthday every year.

He said: „When I lost my brother, I was in a very dark place. You go in mourning. Although you may experience the same symptoms, it is not the same as anxiety and depression.

Pete’s wife Emily had organized a 40th birthday party at Brown’s Bar & Brasserie in Covent Garden the year after Andrew’s death, but said Pete 'broke down and disappeared’ at the bash.

Peter revealed in his post OK! column He prefers to celebrate 'pit pit’ throughout the year instead of holding a big gathering.

He wrote: 'I will be in Dubai with the whole family. I think it’s a birthday celebration. I mean, I don’t turn 50 until the end of the month, so I’m getting there early – lol.

I’ve always been a little apprehensive about turning 50.

’Tis better to focus on 30 than on 50! It sounds old but it really isn’t. I feel so young. I train, I love food, I love life.’
