Olivia Colman announced Thursday that she will not be returning to Netflix's „Heartstopper” Season 3 due to a scheduling conflict. The actor made the announcement during a session with Forbes.
„I couldn't do number three. I couldn't match it. I feel terrible about that,” Coleman said. „I feel like I'm a part of one of the most beautiful things I've ever been a part of.”
Coleman's exit comes a week after Netflix announced the premiere month for the new season. Sarah Nelson plays the mother of Oscar-winning actor Nick Nelson (Kit Conner); She quickly became a standout favorite.
However, Coleman did not rule out a return to „Heartstopper,” sharing that he would be open to returning for Season 4 or a spinoff series.
„I'll say a word,” she said. „As long as it's pre-booked, I can do that, yes!”
„Heartstopper” executive producer Patrick Walters took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to confirm Coleman's departure from the show, saying, „We really tried, but it just wasn't meant to be this season. What initially turned out to be disappointing news left room for something else, but equally special— The feelings are still there, [don’t worry].”
„Heartstopper” is based on Alice Osman's graphic novel series of the same name. The show chronicles the romantic relationship between high school students Nick and Charlie (Joe Locke). Season 3 will debut on Netflix in October.
