Rite Games has released a new 2023 'Gods’ League of Legends World Championship Anthem featuring Nugenes.
According to a press release, 'Gods’ is the first time a K-pop act has sung League of Legends World Championship Anthem. The song marks the 10th anniversary of the anthems for the annual sports competition.
“The 2023 Worlds music video follows the story of Korean pro player Kim 'Deft’ Hyuk-kyu from his discovery. League of Legends In high school, he defied all odds to become a world champion with his team at the 2022 Worlds,” the press release said.
’Gods’ was performed by Nugenes, and was written by Sébastien Najand, principal composer of Rite Games, and Alex Seaver of Mako. The song was first announced in September, with the girl group teasing that it was „a new experience for all of us.”
„It was fun to try a new genre and sound,” the group shared at the time. “Through this collaboration, we are delighted to present a song featuring Newjeans and both. League of Legends’Unique colors. We hope it brings you a new sense of empowerment!”
Meanwhile, Nugenes member HYIN recently released a cover of 'Slow Dancing’ by HYBE labelmate V, a member of K-pop boyband BTS. The singer also talked about how the song made her „a little sad”.
