New updates from Jenna Ortega on 'Wednesday’ Season 2

Wednesday will be one of Netflix’s most notable returning shows, as Season 1 holds the all-time record for English-language hours watched on the service, surpassing Stranger Things. Stranger Things Season 5 might just pull it off, but Wednesday Season 2? Don’t count on it to set more records.

Now, on a larger scale A new interview with Vanity FairWe’ve got some new information about Season 2, some of which Jenna Ortega spent time on Wednesday talking about Beetlejuice and her recent runaway fame.

But based on Wednesday:

  • Season 2 is currently being shot in Dublin and is slated to release in the second half of 2025, as previously reported.
  • Ortega actually tried out as a producer on Wednesday Season 1, but he failed. Now he’s on board for Season 2, believing he already had „producer conversations” in Season 1 anyway.
  • Ortega says he „could have used his words better” when describing his conflicts with publicly published writers because of the control he wanted to keep over his character.
  • Citing the 1964 film The Masque of the Red Death, based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story, he says Wednesday Season 2 will be more horror-filled. One of the „terrible” things is that Wednesday will suddenly appear in places like a jump scare. Looks a bit like Batman to me. But he knows that the show also has a young audience, so it won’t be that extreme.

  • With Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán promoted to regulars, we’ll be seeing more of Wednesday’s parents Morticia and Gomez in season three. He specifically explores his complicated relationship with his mother.
  • She talks about how she disappeared from the cast of Percy Hines’ Xavier, her other love interest on the show after her first film, Tyler, turned into a murderous monster. Hines has been accused of sexual assault on Twitter and has denied the reports. However, he lost the seat. Ortega said of the transition, „It’s a weird detour, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it gets lost.[but the] The world feels a bit crooked anyway.”
  • She says it’s strange jumping back into the role after a two-year hiatus, but once she’s suited up, she’s able to get a handle on becoming Wednesday.

So, not a ton She gives up, but it’s more than we’ve had before. Again, Wednesday Season 2, still filming, won’t be out until 2025, probably later, due to delays and post-production.
