„It shows that I’ve had a lot of great experiences in golf and I’ve had a lot of great years and opportunities and I guess life experiences; playing in these tournaments is something I’m very appreciative of,” the 52-year-old Mickelson, who has won six majors, said after his third-round 75. .

“I mean, it shows how old I am, I guess, how many years I’ve been playing. But I am very happy to have participated in so many great events and played well in them,” he said.

Mickelson shot a 1-over 36 on the backside after shooting a 39 on his opening nine in the rain on Saturday. In three rounds, he’s made just three birdies (none on Saturday), but is highly commendable in testing.

Wet clubfaces and dense, wet rough made Oak Hill more challenging in the rain, but he said puttingts were made a little easier by taking some of the fire off the greens.

„I really enjoyed the challenge. We saw some good scores there,” Michelson said. „It’s doable. I mean, there are bird holes. It is not impossible. It’s hard to play. But if you play well, I think you can shoot below par here.
