Last Minute Cheap Flights to See the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

With less than two weeks to go until the total solar eclipse, hopeful observers have not booked their flights to destinations in the path of totality.

More than 4 million people are expected to witness the rare celestial event on Monday, April 8. This year's total eclipse will be two minutes longer than 2017's, but the next total solar eclipse won't occur for another 20 minutes. years.

Airfare and hotel rates are all already going up for eclipse weekend. Flights to Erie, Pennsylvania and Little Rock, Arkansas average more than $900, according to travel site Hopper. Hotel prices in major domestic cities scheduled to view the eclipse are up 200% compared to the weekend before the eclipse. In Buffalo, New York, the average nightly rate for a stay during the eclipse is $608.

However, there are still some last-minute deals for travelers who want to see the total solar eclipse.
