Kelly Clarkson’s namesake talk show isn’t back yet, but in the meantime, the pop star treated her fans to a Kellyoke performance of Elvis Presley’s „Can’t Help Falling in Love” on Thursday (Oct. 5).
The singer composed music for her, with her backup band reduced to a pianist and instrumentalist. The American idol The winner’s voice floated over the instruments as she took her time singing the classic and romantic track.
“Wise people say/ Only fools rush/ But I can’t help but love you/ Shall I stay?/ Is it a sin?/ If I can’t help loving you,” she sings. The song’s famous opening verse, before leading into the second and final chorus. “Like a river flows/ Of course to the sea/ Baby, it goes/ Some things, you know, take my hand/ Take my whole life/ I can’t help loving you/ Because I can’t help loving you.
The Kelliog cover comes as the show is on hiatus in light of the Hollywood writers’ strike. Ahead of the show’s return, the showrunners will share the pop star’s biggest moments in a „Flashback Fall.” The Kelly Clarkson Show New York City will return from its new home at 30 Rock with new episodes for Season 5 beginning October 16.
