Joint efforts are essential to achieve Vision 2041 goal: Nazrul

Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nazrul Hameed said today (July 15) that joint efforts are necessary to achieve the 2041 target.

„Government is prioritizing power generation from clean and green energy,” he said as chief guest at an agreement signing ceremony at a city hotel.

Nazrul Hameed said that 3,749.07 MW of power from 47 ongoing projects and 9,318.15 MW of power generation from 79 active projects are in the pipeline.

A signing ceremony was held between Bangladesh Coal Power Company Limited and Indonesia’s PT Pertamina Power to develop a 500 MW solar project.

Managing Director Abul Kalam Azad on behalf of coal-fired power generation company Bangladesh Limited and Fadli Rahman, Director of Strategy on behalf of Pertamina Power Indonesia signed the agreement.

The state minister said that currently 521 MW of electricity is being generated from 11 solar power plants.

Among the ongoing projects in the private sector, nine PPA-IA projects have been signed with a total power generation capacity of 269.27 MW.

Among the ongoing projects in the private sector, 29 LOIs have been signed with a total power generation capacity of 2,608 MW.

„The government is promoting renewable energy. Efforts are also underway to import electricity from renewable sources from neighboring countries. At the same time, we are working to increase the use of new technology due to land scarcity,” he added.

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Heru Hardando Subolo and others spoke on the occasion under the leadership of MD Habibur Rahman, Senior Secretary, Electricity Department.
