The Indian women’s football team The second international friendly between the two teams was held to a 1-1 draw against hosts Myanmar at the Tuunna Stadium in Yangon on Friday.
Piari Xaxa, who scored India’s only goal in a 2-1 win against the same opposition earlier this week, equalized two minutes later in the 48th minute for Win Thingi Tun.
India is currently ranked 67th in the FIFA women’s rankings Football While rankings Myanmar women’s football team 54th place.
India took the lead inside the first 10 minutes, but Soumya Kukuloth’s lofted ball was collected over the hosts’ backline by goalkeeper Mio Mia Mia Nain, just before Anju Tamang connected.
In the end both teams went into half-time tied 0-0.
India showed more attacking intent after the restart and took a much-deserved lead three minutes into the half. Goalkeeper Elangbaum got on the end of a long pass from Bandoi Sanu to beat Pyari Lin Lay O and beat opposition keeper Myo Mia Mia Nain.
However, India’s lead lasted just two minutes as Win Thingi Tun headed home Yun Wadi Hlaing’s inviting cross from the right with a first-time shot.
The final 10 minutes saw action as both sides struggled to find a winner. Anju lifts a brilliant ball for Soumya to chase in the box, but he fails to bring it under control.
Meanwhile, at the other end, Pantoi Sanu had to remain alert in injury time. She first denied Win Thingi Tun’s high shot with a strong palm and then punched away a swerving free-kick from Myat No Kin.
A last chance to win the match fell India’s way just before the final whistle, but Sangeeta managed to ski her shot in the 94th minute when a loose ball fell into her path after clearing Ashalata Devi’s free-kick.
India are yet to win in seven games against Myanmar.
