Ariana DeBose remembers being late A Western Story star, Chita Rivera paid tribute at the Tony Awards. At the end of the tribute, the awards show host will take the stage and recreate the „America” musical number.
„In January, we lost one of theaters’ brightest lights, the irreplaceable Cita Rivera,” DeBose said as she took the stage in her voice.
Rivera was remembered by Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald and Bebe Neuwirth.
„Chitta was a great friend and a great role model for anyone who knew her,” Mitchell said. “Everything I know about being a Broadway lead, I learned [Chita]. The small screen characters he created are unforgettable.

DeBose played the role of Anita in 2021 A Western Story A remake directed by Steven Spielberg.
Rivera died on January 30 this year at the age of 91 following a short illness.
