Gotham Farrell returns to Gotham City in the trailer for „The Penguin,” the spinoff series of „The Batman” coming to Max this fall.
„Penguin” takes place immediately following the events of DC's 2022 blockbuster, finding Goblet's rise to power in the Gotham underworld and becoming one of the most prominent villains in the „Batman” universe. The series will have eight episodes. Production began in March 2023, but was halted in June due to a writers' and actors' strike, with filming set to resume after Thanksgiving week.
Farrell's transformative performance as the iconic villain in „The Batman” earned him much critical acclaim. In previous „Batman” movies and shows, he has starred alongside Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito and Robin Lord Taylor.
Farrell is joined by Christine Miliotti as Carmine Falcone's daughter Sofia, Michael Jagan as Carmine's son Alberto, and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, one of Gotham's former top gangsters. Other cast members include Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau and David H. Holmes.
Series executive producer and showrunner Lauren LeFrank, best known for “Agents of SHIELD” Matt Reeves, “The Batman” writer-director, will executive produce through his production company 6th & Idaho. Executive producer Craig Zobel („Mare of Easttown”) will direct the first three episodes. Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski and Bill Carraro are also executive producing, with Ravi Krone co-executive producing. A sequel to „The Batman” titled „The Batman: Part II” is slated to hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
