Chris Pine has joined the cast of „The Kidnapping of Arabella” („Il Rapimento di Arabella”) in an Italian-speaking role.
Written and directed by up-and-coming Italian director Carolina Cavali, the follow-up to her debut, „Amanda,” the film, described as a „drama,” tells the story of a young woman who believes she is the wrong version of herself.
Pendetta Borgaroli, who appeared in „Amanda,” rejoins Cavalli, this time playing Hallie, a young woman uncomfortable with her body. A chance encounter with a 7-year-old boy who is convinced she is a „false version of herself” changes Holly’s mind.
Production is set to begin this week in northern Italy.
Pine, who also speaks Spanish, told Spanish magazine Vanidades earlier this year that he was learning Italian and sometimes confused words between the two languages.
Earlier this month Variety EXCLUSIVELY revealing that “The Kidnapping of Arabella” was already in the works following the success of the ridiculous Arrested Development comedy “Amanda,” which toured Venice and Toronto two years ago.
„I think lonely people coming together to solve a problem has already solved something huge, and that’s what makes me happy about this story,” Cavalli said. Variety Three weeks ago. „I can’t wait to get started and I’m very grateful for this opportunity.”
Apartment CEO Annamaria Morelli added: „Carolina’s second film, The Apartment, is fully aligned with my vision going forward. On the one hand, high-quality productions that include top Italian talent like Paolo Sorrentino, Luca Guadagnino, and big international co-productions and high-quality productions like Prime International IP.” I will continue in the same way that the company is known.
„The Kidnapping of Arabella” is produced by Elsinore Film and Fremantle company The Apartment. Producers are Antonio Celsi for Elsinore and Annamaria Morelli for The Apartment.
