UNIQLO graphic t-shirt brand UT announces the release of „Curated by Tate”, the first collection of UNIQLO and Tate's partnership that began in 2016. Based on the concept „Play is for everyone”, these new additions to the LifeWear showcase are four striking, bold artworks that embody the spirit of play. The collection will be available in Japan starting March 4, 2024.
Partnership with Tate
Together, UNIQLO and Tate connect millions of people through art and culture, championing a shared belief in art and sport for all. The partnership began in 2016 with support from UNIQLO at the opening weekend of the new Tate Modern. Following this, between 2016 and 2020, UNIQLO Tate Lates engaged new and diverse audiences in London with a series of free night events. In 2021, the partnership evolved to support the creation of UNIQLO Tate Play, a free family program that enables people of all ages to create, learn and playfully explore art together. UNIQLO is delighted to extend its partnership with Tate through 2029 through UNIQLO Tate Play.
„Gated by Tate”: Focusing on artwork that embodies the spirit of the game
The first collaborative UT collection between UNIQLO and Tate, „Curated by Tate,” features four artworks by artists from Tate's collection.
- 'Draw Hope' is a playful artwork by Bob and Roberta Smith
- 'Boats' with red and blue stripes is an artwork by sculptor and printmaker Nicholas Monroe, whose witty and playful graphic images are inspired by the colorful comic works of the Pop Art movement.
- Abstract artist Wilhelmina Barnes-Graham's 'Orange and Red on Pink' boldly expresses the love of life through a celebration of colour, texture, energy and vibrancy.
- 'Antenna with Red and Blue Dots' by Alexander Calder, creator of moving sculptures known as 'Mobiles', is a representative work by an artist known for breathing new life into contemporary art.
