A Calvin Klein poster of singer FKA Branch received two complaints

Calvin Klein's ad has been banned after complaints that the images used were „overly sexualised”.

In the poster, singer FKA Branches wears a denim shirt that is drawn halfway around her body, revealing her butt and half of one breast.

Above her, the text was written: „Calvin's or nothing”.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) found the ad to cause serious offense by ignoring women.

„The composition of the image draws the viewer's attention to the model's body rather than the advertised clothing,” the regulator ruled.

By focusing on FKA Branches' „physical features,” it noted that it „presented her as a stereotypical sex object.”

„We have therefore concluded that this ad is irresponsible and will cause serious offence,” it said.

Defending its ad, Calvin Klein said it was similar to what it had been releasing in the UK for years.

The fashion brand described the Two Weeks hitmaker as a „confident and empowered woman” and said she collaborated with the company to produce the image and approved it before its release.

All „normally sensitive” body areas were fully covered and the FKA branches were in a natural and neutral position.

Two people complained that the images were „overly sexualised”, offensive and irresponsible because they objectified and inappropriately portrayed women.

The complaints were directed at two posters from the same campaign featuring model Kendall Jenner.

But the ASA found that the posters did not focus on her body in a way that „depicts her as a sex object” and lacked the level of nudity people would expect for an underwear ad.

Calvin Klein and FKA branches have been reached out for comment.
