The Loved Ones, the Philadelphia band that supercharged the pop-punk genre mid-act with songs like „Jane” and „The Bridge,” haven’t played a show in nearly eight years. That inactive streak will end when frontman Dave House renews the band at the 2024 Sing As Home Festival.
May 3-5 at Venetian Island in Philly’s Manayunk neighborhood sees Sing as Home playing several house sets: the House Family Campfire Songwriters Tour with Beloved, his own band Mermaid, and fellow Philadelphians Longhorn Slim and Amethyst Kia. The Jayhawks share the top spot on the bill with the Lovers.
The singer-songwriter mixes vibes with his punk roots on albums like House, 2011. Resolutions And this year Drive like it’s stolen, and new song „50 Club,” leans into that attitude-heavy mix as it headlines the 2024 festival. In-your-face artists like Strike Anywhere, Mercy Union and Tim Barry of the punk group Avail are all on the bill. Sarah Shook & The Discharmers, Chuck Daniels, Fire In The Radio, Space Cadet, Philly vocal collective Fishtown Singers, brass band Ocean Avenue Stompers and House’s bandmate and brother Tim House round out the lineup.
Passes for the 2024 Sing As Home Festival go on sale Friday, December 15 at 10am/ET fest’s website.
Along with House and Mermaid, last year’s weekend featured Drive-By Truckers, Kathleen Edwards, The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn and Catbait.
