Two goals from Harry Kane helped Bayern Munich leapfrog Bayer Leverkusen from top spot with a dramatic 4-2 win over brave Bundesliga newcomers Heidenheim.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, who have scored 17 goals in 11 league games, took a two-goal lead in the 14th minute through Kane Swiveling and Lash past Kevin Muller.

One quickly made it two when 'King Kane’, as he was fondly called in Munich, was foolishly left unmarked in the box and capitalized on a smart header from Leroy Sane’s deft delivery.

„I enjoy playing with the team,” Kane told The Post. „My body is getting used to the rigors of the Premier League, but it’s been a tough week.”

Bayern, who beat Galatasaray in midweek thanks to another Kane masterclass, were in control at the break with Kroos, again led by the England captain, but suffered a slight slump midway through the second period to gift Heidenheim two quick goals.

Tim Kleindienst gave the visitors a lifeline in the 67th minute, turning home Eren Dinksey’s cross, before Jan-Niklaas Best’s curling effort deflected off Manuel Neuer to draw the visitors level four minutes later.

There was an uproar in the stands, and on the touchline, Duchel had made three substitutions before Heidenheim’s late strike, but Bayern never felt ready to surrender precious points in such contrasting circumstances.

The 33-time German champions came out strong in the closing stages and restored their lead through Rafael Guerrero, before substitutes Mathys Tel and Eric Choupo-Moting combined to seal victory.

„He has extraordinary quality, you saw today,” Heidenheim head coach Frank Schmidt said of Kane. „The way he plays, his game is that of a great player.”

Bayern temporarily climbed to the top of the Bundesliga while Kane extended his personal record-breaking scoring run – a fine afternoon’s work at the Allianz Arena and it was no empty journey for the reigning champions.

Kane, who has now scored 21 goals in 15 league and European games, opened his account early on with a superb turn and drill shot.

He scored again a minute before the break with a powerful header to become the first player in Bundesliga history to score 17 goals in the first 11 matchdays of a season – and has more league goals throughout 2022 than last season’s top scorer. -23 campaign.

Tuchel was less than impressed, however, as his side’s clumsy defending allowed Heidenheim to roar back in the second half and score twice in four disastrous minutes.

Kleindienst reduced the deficit after Heidenheim caught Bayern on the counter-attack, and Peste equalized in the 70th minute after another defensive error.

Fortunately for Duchel, the home side went top on 29 points with Guerrero’s first goal – his first for Bayern – and a Choubo-Moting header. Hard fought, but worth it in the end.

Sky Sports’ Laura Hunter:

„The numbers speak for themselves. But beyond the goals, let’s be clear about Harry Kane’s enormous contribution to this Bayern team. In the first half of Saturday’s Heidenheim tie, Kane was spraying passes like a prime Andres Iniesta, circa 2007.

„His balance, ball control and passing range, in close quarters, were fantastic to watch. The link-up between him, Thomas Müller and Leroy Sane made Heidenheim powerless in the first period.

„And when things unraveled momentarily in the second, Kane continued to wrestle in the ascendancy – he actually squandered opportunities to complete his treble, but it didn’t matter because his overall display ended so brilliantly.

„Outscored last season’s Bundesliga Golden Boot winner [Niclas Fullkrug], in November, is stunning. No wonder the 30-year-old is being talked about as the best player in the world on current form. He makes it hard to disagree.”
