Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole admitted he would have been 'crazy’ if he had played with Anthony as he questioned the Brazilian’s contribution to the club’s attack.

Anthony has come under fire for a series of under-performing since joining the Red Devils from Ajax in 2022 for £85.5m.

The Brazil international has failed to provide a goal or assist in nine appearances for the club this season.

Anthony was given another chance to impress after being handed a start in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle.

Kohli, who scored 121 goals in 275 appearances for Man United, said Anthony’s performance would have frustrated him as a center forward.

’He drives me absolutely crazy,’ Cole told Sky Sports.

’He’s an individual and we all know he’s not really left-footed, right-footed. So if you go center forward and run to the near post, you know you’ll never get it.

’I see things like that, he’s not scoring enough goals for me or creating enough chances for his teammates.

’You look at him and think what you give.

They spent a lot of money on him and the manager has backed him. He found it very difficult.’

The focus has been on Man United’s lack of goals this season, with the Red Devils scoring just 11 of their 10 Premier League matches.

Cole said the lack of chances created by the team would frustrate summer signing Rasmus Hojlund.

He suggested the Danish striker would demand a different style from Anthony the more he plays with the Brazilian.

„I used to watch Man United and think, 'Am I going to win,'” Cole said.

’When you play for a team that doesn’t create many chances up front, you scratch your head thinking when the next chance will come.

’If Hojlund continues to play with Anthony, he’ll tell him, „Any chance, I’m making good runs”.

It all kicks in!
