Red Bull team boss Christian Horner took a moment to think after Max Verstappen helped the team make it 12 wins in a row with another commanding display at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Verstappen overtook Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton on pole, surpassing McLaren’s mark of 11 in the 1988 season.

Commenting on the achievement, Horner said: “As a young child, I remember watching the McLarens of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna achieve that incredible feat. They were an incredible team and Ron Dennis was an incredible team captain.
„To think we’ve improved it now is that the whole team here in Budapest, in Milton Keynes, everyone behind the scenes has worked so hard and it will mean so much.”

Horner later praised Verstappen’s drive as the reigning dual world champion edged through struggles to keep Red Bull’s 100% record intact for the season.
„I think he’s totally with himself, a driver in the car, [has] We have full faith and trust in the team,” he opined. „I think what we’re witnessing with him at the moment is at the top of his game as an athlete – it’s a pleasure to work with.
„[Qualifying] Disastrous as far as balance goes, but it pushes him. I think the compromise we made yesterday has paid off [from] Today with a better, better racecar.
„Max is a very humble guy and sometimes he’s embarrassed by the praise he gets, but he deserves all the credit in the world for the way he’s driving at the moment.”
Verstappen’s seventh win of the season made it Red Bull’s record 12th.
With Sergio Perez in the other RB19 recovering from ninth to third, Horner had his praises for the Mexican.
„I think he drove a great race today,” said the team boss. “He recovered, his overtaking was brave, his pace was fast, the way he did the places, I think that passed Carlos. [Sainz]passes Fernando [Alonso]passes through [Oscar] Piastre, the strategy he had – he was on fire today.
„I think a race like that just gives you a huge amount of confidence. To overtake him, the guts he showed… was a statement for me to say, 'Look, don’t write me off.’
