Muni receives $290,000 to support circular economy practices within the community.
The District of Squamish received just $290,000 in funding from its province. Circular Economy Trailblazer Project (CETP).
With funding from BC’s Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP), the District aims to help local businesses with circular economy practices through education from CETP.
In addition, businesses participating in the CETP can apply for grant funding by presenting ideas that incorporate circular economy practices.
The The federal government is defining a circular economy „Retaining and recovering as much value as possible from resources by reusing, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, repurposing or recycling products and materials.”
Mayor Armand Hurford said in a news release that it is „essential” to follow these procedures.
„A holistic environmental policy involves developing our local economy in a way that minimizes waste emissions and is a real investment in driving economic prosperity within the community,” he continued.
