Chelsea reject Manchester United bid for Mound and Kane backlash, Arsenal in talks with Howard, Real Madrid Bellingham announce

Elsewhere this morning, the England Under-21 squad for this summer’s Euro 2023 campaign has been announced, but there is no place for treble winner Rico Luiz.

The 18-year-old Man City defender has made 23 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s first team this season, including two in the Champions League and 14 in the Premier League.

But he was a surprise omission from manager Lee Carsley’s side, which also featured a recognized out-and-out striker.

With Fowler’s Balogan switching his international allegiance to the United States and Ryan Brewster injured, Aston Villa youngster Cameron Archer is the only leading man in the squad.

But Carsley will have plenty of top flight experience and talent, with Emil Smith Rowe, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Morgan Gibbs-White, Oliver Skipp and Anthony Gordon all set to make their mark in the 23-man squad.

The Young Lions travel to Romania and Georgia, looking for their first European Championship win since 1984, and open their campaign in Georgia on June 22 against the Czech Republic.
