Around 70 children from the Queen of Paradise (QOP) program will perform for Pope Francis during his upcoming visit to Papua New Guinea in September.

Fr. Miguel de la Calle of the QOP band said the children will play instruments and sing for the Pope on Sept. 8 in Vanimo.

„The children of the QOP band are so excited that Pope Francis is going to hear them in person,” the priest said in a statement. NationalA local newspaper.

Fr. Miguel said the children will wait for Pope Francis at the end of the 13-kilometer golf cart ride in Vanimo to bless the people.

Maestro Jesus Briseno, who conducts the group, described the 5-minute concert as „pure gold” and said they were preparing „two pieces of music” for the Pope.

The Archbishop of Port Moresby, Cardinal John Ribaud, has described Pope Francis’ visit to Papua New Guinea as a „blessing”.

He noted that the Pope comes not only as the head of the Catholic Church but also as the head of state.

„The Pope is coming as a sick person and I want to emphasize that he will be in a wheelchair. He is 88 years old this year,” said the prelate. „Despite his age and all the problems surrounding his health, he still decided to come.”

Cardinal Ribaut reminded the faithful that the pope is „a person like you and me.” However, he stressed that „if Jesus Christ chooses him to carry out this important work in the world, we must prepare well for his coming and welcome him.”
