Wrestler Aman Sehrawat India’s only medal event will feature tonight starting at 9:45 PM IST. The 21-year-old will face Pan American Games bronze medalist Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico in the men’s 57kg freestyle bronze medal match.
Asian champion Aman defeated North Macedonia’s Vladimir Ekoro in the round of 16 and former world champion Zelimkan Abakaro in the quarterfinals by technical superiority. He then lost 10–0 to Rio 2016 silver medalist Rei Higuchi of Japan in the semifinals to win the bronze medal.
In track and field, Indian teams will compete in their respective first heats of the Indian 4x400m relay today from 2:10 pm.
The women’s team consists of Jyotika Sri Thandi, Kiran Pahal, Machethira Raju Poovamma, Vidya Ramraj and Subha Venkatesan. However, only four will run on Friday.
In the men’s event, Amoj Jacob, Rajesh Ramesh, Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan, Mohammad Ajmal and Muhammad Anas will compete. Notably, they boast a national record of 2:59.05.
Aditi Ashok and Diksha Thagar, meanwhile, will start India’s day at 12:30 PM IST in the third round of the women’s golf tournament.
