Gilo Cardozo is on a mission to share his love for aviation. Find out how his personal passion helped him discover his company’s broader mission.
WHen Kilo Cardoso started his company in Wiltshire in 2000 with a simple and very personal aim: to share his love of flying with other aviation enthusiasts. Working in a garage, he built parajets in hopes of getting many people into the air who felt like seeing the world from a new perspective.
Finding your purpose
Cardoso freely admits that when he started the company, he was too young and inexperienced to think about how his work could have a significant and positive impact on society.
„As the business grows, obviously you start to learn more about the world, see what its flaws are, what’s missing and see if you can use some of the technology you’re creating to make the world a better place,” he says.
Today, Zillow Industries works with defense and aerospace companies to design technology that can improve industries and provide assistance in critical situations. The company is currently developing manned and autonomous aircraft that are cheaper and more agile than helicopters.
However, the company’s CEO, Jim Edmondson, says that having fun is an essential part of the company’s vision: „The overall mission of Kilo Industries is to create products that help humanity be more efficient, and that’s our ultimate goal. At the same time […] Everything we do is trying to create positivity with a sense of fun.”
