Scout is studying the major changes to be made Fantasy Premier League For the 2024/25 season.
Fantasy managers should be aware of changes at certain points ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Most of the changes affect the bonus points system (BPS), but there is also a change in the number of points a goalkeeper gets for scoring a goal.
What are bonus points?
Bonus points will be awarded to the top three players in each match. Three points will be awarded to the player with the highest scores from their performance in the BPS.
How do bonus points change?
Ever wondered how players end up with bonus points in FPL?
It all depends on the BPS scores.
A range of statistics from chances created to tackles are used to create a BPS score for each player.
For example, Mickey Van de Ven, Arijanette Muric, Jacob Brune Larsen And Pedro Boro (£5.5m) Tottenham Hotspur’s best BPS performers were against Burnley in Gameweek 37 with wins of 33, 25, 24 and 24 respectively. Accordingly they were awarded three, two, one and one FPL bonus points respectively.
Examples of how bonus point ties are resolved include:
- In case of a tie for first place, players 1 & 2 get 3 points each and player 3 gets 1 point.
- In case of a tie for second place, player 1 gets 3 points and players 2 and 3 get 2 points each.
- In case of a tie for third place, Player 1 gets 3 points, Player 2 gets 2 points and Players 3 & 4 get 1 point each.

Those are the basics. Now there are minor changes for this season, with the BPS rewarding or penalizing players for four extra actions that did not factor in last campaign.
Changes to BPS for 2024/25
action | 2023/24 BPS | 2024/25 BPS |
---|---|---|
The goalkeeper saved the penalty | +15 | +9 |
Goalkeeper/Defender conc. target | – | -4 |
choline clearance | – | +3 |
Foul won | – | +1 |
Shot on target | – | +2 |
Goalkeepers may lose quite a bit with these first two BPS scoring changes above.
For example, Alphonse Arola He saved a penalty in a 3-1 win over Chelsea in Gameweek 2 last season, but he would have lost both of his bonus points had the new rules been in place at the time.
Don’t feel too bad for the goalkeepers: they get five genuine FPL points for every penalty saved.
As for goalline clearances, no player took more than three last season, so it’s not a very common occurrence.
The seven players who will appear in the 2024/25 FPL recorded three such clearances last season, all of them defenders.
They were And burn (£4.5m), Diogo Dalot, Now Diop, Louis Dunk (£4.5m), Dottie Gomez, Max Gilman (£4.5m) and Murillo (£4.5m).
Additional rewards for attackers
The extra BPS points awarded for winning fouls and shots on target should benefit attackers.
duck leg Bugayo Saka (£10.0m) Only two players in the top 15 for both fouls won and shots on target in 2023/24.
Both of these England internationals scored over 200 FPL points last season, so they could be set for more joy this campaign.
Foden and Saga stats 2023/24

Changes in earning points
do you own Alison For his dramatic late winner against West Bromwich Albion in 2021? Or Asmir Begovic For the long-range goal for Stoke City against Southampton in 2013/14?
A goalkeeper getting on the scoresheet is one of the most memorable events in Premier League history.
Tim Howard, Paul Robinson, Brad Friedel And Peter Schmeichel Other guardians in question.
A memorable event should be suitably rewarded in the FPL scoring system – which is why goalkeepers now get 10 points instead of six.
When that happens you’re automatically looking at a double-digit draw, with a clean sheet, savings and/or bonus points in the bank as well, guaranteeing a huge score.
