Dave Grohl seems to be taking a barb at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour

Dave Grohl has been criticized by Taylor Swift fans for comments he made about Swift’s Eras tour during a Foo Fighters performance over the weekend.

The comments came during the band’s Saturday night show in London. Swift is in London for the latest stop on her Eras tour. He performed at Wembley Stadium while the Foo Fighters were at the London Stadium.

According to several videos posted on social media by concertgoers, Grohl mentioned the coincidence of the two of them being in the same city and then started talking about the name of his tour.

“I know she is on the Eras tour. I’m telling you not to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” he said, as the crowd began to boo.

He continued: „So we like to call our tour the 'Errors Tour'” – this time the crowd cheered him on – „because we’ve been over a few eras and there’s been more errors than a few mistakes. Well. A couple. And that’s because we’re actually playing live. The reason. What?!” He turned away from the mic, mockingly angry.

He then continued: “I mean, you like rock, live rock and roll don’t you? You have come to the right place. „

During her own tour in London on Sunday, Swift played a three-and-a-half-hour show night after night for her band members, with other artists joining her on stage at each show. Notably, Swift often stopped performing mid-song.

Many social media users questioned Grohl’s comments and the reasoning behind them. „Once again men are bashing Taylor for no reason, she’s done nothing wrong and they feel the need to talk about her,” wrote one, while another said it was „incredibly weird behavior considering this was an incredibly unmotivated statement.”

For his part, Grohl has praised Swift before. Several years ago, he appeared The Late Late Show with James Corden, There he talked about being at a Paul McCartney party where the host sat down and played a song on the piano. Afterwards, the partygoers turned to Grohl, wanting him to play a song as well. Not knowing how to play the piano, Grohl panicked a bit, at which point Swift jumped to the Foo Fighters frontman’s rescue and offered to play a song.

„I can’t play the piano, I was a bit out of it at the time,” he joked, adding that he might have been high. „All the guitars are left-handed, and I’m like, 'Oh my god, what am I going to do, what am I going to do,’ and then Taylor Swift stands up. She goes, 'I’ll do a song,’ and … she saved my ass. She stood up and said, She starts singing this song, it sounds familiar, and I’m kind of out of it, and I look at my wife and I’m like, 'I know this song. What’s this song?’ He also performed on the Foo Fighters song 'Best of You’.

Grohl said it was „so good” and he got up and started singing along to her piano accompaniment.

Earlier this year, Swift was criticized by fans when Grohl’s daughter Violet criticized Swift for flying on a private jet in a post she deleted. Swifties noted that Violet has also flown on a private jet in the past.
