Namibia Opted to bat against Scotland
Namibia captain Herhard Erasmus won the toss and elected to bat against Scotland in the 12th match of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Namibia are second in Group B after winning the Super Over against Oman four days ago. Chasing a target of 109, a panic was overcome by Ruben Trumpelman’s 4 for 21 and David Wise’s heroics with bat and ball in the super over. A win here will see them top the group with a two-point cushion.
Scotland’s opener against England at this venue was rained out, but they too came in good spirits. George Munsey and Michael Jones put on 90 in the first innings to help England score 109 in 10 overs. Before Scotland had a chance to put the defending champions under pressure, the rain intervened for the last time and ensured a washout.
This will be the fourth T20I meeting between the two sides, with Namibia winning the previous three meetings. The last of which was a four-wicket win at the 2021 T20 World Cup, in which Trumpelman tore through Scotland’s top order, eventually taking 3 for 17 from his four overs.
Although the toss seems to announce an unchanged team, JP Gotze made a change from Michael van Lingen at the top of the order. Scotland remained unchanged.
Namibia: 1 JP Gotze, 2 Nicolas Davin, 3 John Freilink, 4 Gerhard Erasmus (capt), 5 JJ Schmidt, 6 David Wise, 7 Jane Green (week), 8 Malone Kruger, 9 Ruben Trumpelmann, 10 Bernard Scholtz, 11 Tange.
Scotland: 1 George Muncie, 2 Michael Jones, 3 Brandon McMullan, 4 Richie Berrington (Captain), 5 Matthew Cross (Week), 6 Michael Leask, 7 Chris Greaves, 8 Mark Watt, 9 Brad Wheel, 10 Chris Soule, 11 .
