Bosnian-Dutch writer and director Ena Sentijarevic has signed on to manage Black Bear.
Sendijarevic's second feature “Sweet Dreams” was selected as the official Dutch submission for this year's Academy Awards and was deemed a “startlingly accomplished sophomore film”. Variety. She is one of them Variety10 Directors to Watch in 2024
Sendijarevic's debut, the absurdist European road trip film “Take Me Somewhere Nice,” won the Special Jury Award at the 48th International Film Festival in Rotterdam and the “Heart of Sarajevo” award at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival. The film was later selected for the Acid Selection at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. Sendijarevic has also produced several short films, the latest of which, „Import”, made its world premiere in the Cannes Director's Fortnight category and the official Dutch entry for Live Action Short Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
Next up for Sendijarević is „The Possessed,” which is set to open sales at Rotterdam's upcoming CineMart. The film follows an eccentric female director on an isolated island who „makes a film about the effects of a witch hunt on the modern female psyche…but nothing goes as planned.”
Led by partners Keith Redmon and Joan Roberts Wiles, Black Bear's executive clients include Karin Kusama (“Yellowjackets„), Cooper Rife („Cha Cha Real Smooth”), Morton Tyldum („The Imitation Game”), John Hillcoat („George & Tommy”), Cody Smit-McBee („The Power of the Dog”) and Simona Tabasco („White Lotus „).
Outside of its management business, Black Bear produced the Netflix drama „Niad,” which earned an Oscar nomination for stars Annette Bening and Jodie Foster, as well as „I Care a Lot” with Rosamund Pike.
