Elvis Presley made a royal return to the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 as his classic 1957 carol „Blue Christmas” jumped from No. 25 to No. 18 on the chart dated January 6, 2024.
With the boom, the late King of Rock and Roll appeared in the Hot 100's top 20, the first time since the chart's October 1, 1977 debut, when his track „Way Down” peaked at No. 18.
Presley died on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42.
„Blue Christmas” became Presley's 49th Top 20 Hot 100 hit, the fourth-best total for the chart's August 4, 1958 debut since the 1956 commercial breakthrough. Drake leads the way with 133 and 20 titles, followed by Taylor Swift (85) and Lil Wayne (53).
The song was up 23.3 million in official US streams (up 15%) and 7.7 million in radio airplay audience (up 3%) Dec. 22-28 — thus, the only four-day tracking week that includes Christmas Day — according to Luminate.
Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson's „Blue Christmas” has hit the Hot 100 in three formats. In addition to Presley, The Browns' version peaked at No. 97 in 1960 and Kane Brown's interpretation rose to No. 73 this past holiday season.

Meanwhile, Presley, Chuck Berry, Nat King Cole, Perry Como and Dean Martin charted on the latest Hot 100 with holiday titles and share the record for longest chart appearance: 65 years and five months; As the inaugural Hot 100 featured five legendary artists, it covers the chart's entire existence to date.
As previously reported, Brenda Lee's „Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100. The collegiate season mark since 1958 adds a third week at the summit, four weeks after it led for the first time. Also, the top eight titles on the Hot 100 are holiday songs for the first time, while nine of the top 10 are holiday songs for the second time, and a one-week record 41 holiday songs grace the entire chart (surpassing 40 this week from a year ago).
