„Swagger” was canceled on Apple TV+ after two seasons.
Series creator Reggie Rock Bythewood shared the news with fans Instagram. „What an amazing adventure,” he wrote. „In our two seasons, we started lives, disrupted genre, brought humanity to life through our characters, told deeply caring stories, revolutionized the way basketball was shot and had fun.”
Bythewood thanked the creative team behind the show and producer CBS Studios. “Apple, while you didn’t order a season three, I did the show I wanted to do. Thank you for that,” he continued.
“For our FAMbase, you have lifted us up in ways we could never have imagined. For industry, don’t take your foot off the gas. Keep telling our stories,” he concluded.
„Swagger” is inspired by the life of NBA star Kevin Durant, who serves as an executive producer on the series. The official series description reads, „Explores the world of youth basketball, the players, their families and coaches who navigate the fine line between dreams and ambition and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.”
The cast of the show includes O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Shinelle Azoro, Christina Jackson, Quenzane Wallis, Khalil Harris, Tristan Mack Wilds, Orlando Jones, Tessa Ferrer, and Jason Rivera.
Bythewood executive produced Durant, along with Brian Grazer, Rich Kleiman, Francie Calfo and Joy Keken. The series is produced by Boardroom, Imagine Television Studios, CBS Studios and Undisputed Cinema.
