BTS’ Jung Kook '3D’ – Sets Fast Pace Through Billboard

BTS star Jung Kook is off to a bright start on his way to his top-charting solo single in the UK, „3D”.
Released based on midweek sales and streaming data The Official Chart Companyy, “3D” (via BigHit Entertainment), featuring Louisville rapper Jack Harlow, is the week’s highest debut at No. 2.

„3D,” it leads Billboards With 62% of the vote this week, the new music poll appears to be closing the gap on incumbent Doja Kat’s „Paint the Town Red” (Ministry of Sound). In OCC’s previous update, „3D” ranked no. 3 and now falls to 2-3 on the National Singles Chart.

Jungkook made UK chart history earlier this year with „Seven” featuring Lotto. It peaked at No. 3 on the Official UK Singles Chart, released on July 21, the highest charting debut by a solo Korean act.

All seven members of BTS – Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jung Kook, RM, V and J-Hope – shared solo material.

First, bandmate J-Hope released his J. Cole set the mark with the collaboration „On The Street”, peaking at number 37 in the UK, and Jimin later improved upon it, earning his own top 40 appearance with „Set Me Free Pt”. 2” (No. 30 apex). Jimin later reset the bar with a top 10 for „Like Crazy,” peaking at No. 8 in March.

If „3D” holds its spot or does better, it will give Jung Kook a higher UK chart position than any other single released by BTS. The K-pop phenomenon has reached number 3 on the Official UK Singles Chart, a feat achieved on three occasions – with 2020’s „Dynamite” and Coldplay with „Butter” and „My Universe” (both from 2021).

The next best debut in the UK charts had to be Ed Sheeran’s, „American Town” at no. 23, and „Magical” is set to enter at No. 37, making it the English singer-songwriter’s 62nd. and 63rd to 40th appearance. „American Town” and „Magical” are lifted from Sheeran Autumn variations (Gingerbread Man), which traveled to No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart.
