Tangerang, Banten (Andara) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left for India on Friday to attend the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10, 2023.
The President, along with First Lady Iriana, boarded Garuda Indonesia-1 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Bandon for New Delhi.
He was accompanied by several ministers of the Indonesian Cabinet, namely Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indravati, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumathi received the President at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Earlier, President Widodo said the Indonesian government will demonstrate its commitment to global stability and peace at the G20 summit in India.
„Tomorrow, I am leaving for India to attend the G20 summit… I think what we will pledge there is the key to stability and peace, prosperity,” he told the 43rd press conference. The ASEAN summit is being held here on Thursday (September 7).
He emphasized that the world needs a „safe house” that supports stability and peace that will lead to global prosperity. He also said cooperation and collaboration should come first.
Indonesia is committed to voicing the interests of developing countries, particularly rights to inclusion and access to welfare.
According to the president, the right of the people to achieve benefits represents the industrial bottom line that the Indonesian government is currently striving for.
The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries — Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, And the United States — and the European Union.
G20 members account for about 85 percent of global gross domestic product (GDP), more than 75 percent of global trade and two-thirds of the world’s population.
