Batang, W Sumatra (Antara) – Currently hosting the 2023 World Islamic Entrepreneurship Summit (WIES), Indonesia is determined to emerge as the center of the global Islamic economy, Vice President Maroof Amin has confirmed.
The 2023 WIES will be held in Padang, West Sumatra from September 6-9 under the cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the West Sumatra Provincial Government.
„We aim to position Indonesia as the world’s center of Islamic economic development,” Amin said at the event on Friday.
According to the Vice President, the international event themed “Building an Inclusive Economic Framework in a Polarized World” has been well received by the participating international delegates.
He noted that the enormous potential of Indonesia’s Islamic economic sector has attracted delegates’ support to the country’s ambition to become the Islamic economic center of the world.
At the event, one-time chairman of the Council of Indonesian Ulama (MUI), V.P. Amin said the government should take into account the economic potential of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. , fair and sustainable economic ecosystem.
„It should be noted that they (MSMEs) are widespread and dominate the economic sector (in Indonesia),” he added.
Amin expressed confidence that the development of Indonesia’s Islamic economy and finance is essential to the advancement of the country’s overall economy.
He reiterated that the central government is making constant efforts to support the development of Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, including creating regulations that benefit domestic business actors.
The government has been supporting business actors by distributing incentives, building essential infrastructure, preparing financing schemes, helping businesses expand their markets, and improving the quality of human resources through education and training programs.
„Our ultimate goal is to create new entrepreneurs and facilitate them to improve their class and help them become mentors to others,” he said.
